The big differences
A room, not a meeting
Your team is in the room all day with microphones and cameras off, so you can see who is around and just talk, without sending a link or booking a slot. Microphone and camera start off every time you join, enforced by our server, not left to a setting.
Step aside without leaving
Focus mode takes two or three people into a private conversation inside the room. Their audio, video and screen reach only each other, enforced by the media server, and everyone can see they are busy.
Every call lands where the work is
Calls are transcribed automatically once two people are talking, then titled and tagged to your projects, and the meeting stays in the room's history next to the messages around it. Nothing to download, nothing to paste into a ticket.
One of eight
For calls alone Zoom costs less: $16.99 a person against our $29.99. The same price covers chat, clips, dictation, booking, tickets, customer support and error reports.
Where Zoom is better
It works everywhere, at any size. Every platform, including phones, large meetings and webinars. LoopRoom calls work in the browser and on a Mac today, with Windows in testing and phones coming.
Recordings and summaries. Zoom records to the cloud and writes AI summaries on paid plans. LoopRoom transcribes every call, but recording calls as video and meeting summaries are not here yet.
Security paperwork. Zoom has optional end-to-end encryption, SOC 2, single sign-on on Business and a HIPAA agreement for healthcare accounts. We do not have those yet. If your company needs them, Zoom is the safer choice this year.
Questions
Is LoopRoom cheaper than Zoom?
For calls alone, no: Zoom Pro is $16.99 a person a month ($14.16 billed yearly) and LoopRoom is $29.99 ($24.99 billed yearly). LoopRoom's price also covers chat, clips, dictation, booking, tickets, customer support and error reports.
Do guests need an account or an app?
No. A guest opens your room's link in a browser, types their name and knocks, and you let them in.
Can I record a meeting?
Not as video yet; recording from the Mac and Windows apps is coming. Every call can be transcribed automatically today, and the transcript is titled, tagged and kept with the meeting.
Can I join a call from my phone?
Not yet. Calls work in any browser on a computer and in the Mac app. The iPhone app, in testing, covers messages, dictation and clips, and calls are coming.
