LoopRoom vs Slack

Slack is where most teams talk. LoopRoom has chat too, but it lives inside the room your team is already in, next to the calls, clips, tickets and customers the conversation is about. Here is the whole comparison, including where Slack is the better choice.

The big differences

The chat is in the room

In LoopRoom you message people from the room you are all in: click a face, say something, and if it needs a conversation, talk. Calls are not a separate huddle to start, and every message sits next to the meeting, clip or ticket it is about.

Your history is yours, on every plan

There is no 90-day wall and nothing is deleted for being old. On Slack's free plan only the last 90 days are visible, and since August 2024 anything older than a year is permanently deleted.

Customers and code in the same place

Messages from the widget on your product and error reports from Sentry arrive as tickets in the same window your team talks in. An AI coding agent can pick one up, and the conversation about it happens right beside it.

One of eight

For chat alone Slack costs less: $8.75 a person against our $29.99. The same price covers your team's room and calls, clips, dictation, booking, tickets, customer support and error reports.

Where Slack is better

Every integration you can think of. Slack has more than 2,600 apps and Workflow Builder. LoopRoom connects the things that matter to a team building software, Sentry, GitHub, AI agents through MCP and our command line tool, not everything.

It is where everyone already is. If you work across several companies that each use Slack, or you share channels with clients and partners through Slack Connect, one tool for all of them is a real reason to stay.

Search and threads are mature. Slack's search and side-panel threads have years behind them. LoopRoom's message search is coming, and replies are quoted inline.

Security paperwork. Slack has SOC 2, ISO certifications, single sign-on, data residency, and HIPAA support on Enterprise. We do not have those yet. If your company needs them, Slack is the safer choice this year.

Questions

Is LoopRoom cheaper than Slack?

For chat alone, no: Slack Pro is $8.75 a person a month ($7.25 billed yearly) and LoopRoom is $29.99 ($24.99 billed yearly). LoopRoom's price also covers calls, clips, dictation, booking, tickets, customer support and error reports. Slack Pro and Zoom Pro together are $25.74.

Can we keep Slack and try LoopRoom?

Yes, and we suggest it. Start with one room and one project. Most teams keep their other tools for a while and move once the seams between them start to show.

Can we chat with people outside our company?

Not in chat yet. People outside your team can knock on your room or book a meeting with you, and you can let them in. If you share channels with clients or partners every day, Slack Connect does that today.

Does LoopRoom delete old messages?

No. Your messages are kept for as long as you use LoopRoom, on every plan.
