The big differences

Your recording survives the connection

LoopRoom saves every recording on your device first and uploads it in pieces whenever it can, so a tunnel, a hotel wifi or a mountain trail cannot lose it. Loom uploads while you record; its own help pages say a dropped connection can fail a recording, and that videos recorded in the Chrome extension or the phone apps cannot be recovered.

"I would try to send Looms on my hikes all the time, and they would fail on me, and I would just lose them. On the same hike, LoopRoom was no problem."Mitch Lusas, co-founder, recording on iPhone

The AI is included, not an upgrade

Every LoopRoom clip gets its transcript, title, description, chapters and project tags, and every owner can cut by transcript and remove long pauses. On Loom, summaries, chapters, editing by transcript and removing silences need Business + AI, at $24 a person.

You know exactly who watched

Make a separate named link for each audience, ask viewers for their name and email, and see how far each person got and which link they came from. "Sent to the client" and "sent to the team" never blur together. Loom has one link per video, asks for email only, and names only viewers who are signed in.

An editor that does more

Insert another clip in the middle, blur something you only noticed afterwards, rotate a phone recording, choose the frame people see when you share, and go back to an earlier version. Loom's editor has years of polish, but none of those.

A clip that knows what it is about

Loom's library is folders, because Loom only knows your videos. A LoopRoom clip sits on the ticket, project or meeting it explains, searchable alongside everything else, so nobody has to find it. Record a walkthrough of a customer's bug and it lands on the ticket, where an AI coding agent can work from it.

One of eight

The same price covers your team's room and calls, chat, dictation, booking, tickets, customer support and error reports. For clips alone Loom costs less; with any one of those, LoopRoom does.

Where Loom is better

It records everywhere today. Chrome, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. LoopRoom records on a Mac now, with iPhone and Windows in testing and the browser and Android coming.

It has a free plan, and it costs less if clips are all you need.

Security paperwork. Loom has SOC 2, and single sign-on on Enterprise, through Atlassian. We do not have either yet. If your company needs them, Loom is the safer choice this year.

Questions

Is LoopRoom cheaper than Loom?

For clips alone, no: Loom Business is $18 a person a month ($15 billed yearly) and LoopRoom is $29.99 ($24.99 billed yearly). But Loom's AI features need Business + AI at $24 ($20 yearly), and LoopRoom's price also covers calls, chat, dictation, booking, tickets, customer support and error reports. If you pay for Loom and one of those, LoopRoom costs less.

Do viewers need a LoopRoom account to watch a clip?

No. Anyone with the link can watch, unless you limit a clip to approved people, add a password, or ask viewers for their name and email first.

Where can I record LoopRoom clips?

On a Mac today. iPhone and Windows recording are in testing, and recording in the browser and on Android is coming. Clips play anywhere, in any browser.

Is there a free plan?

No. LoopRoom is one paid plan with everything included. Loom has a free Starter plan: 25 videos per person, up to 5 minutes each, at 720p.

Clips that know what they are about.
